The longest journey begins with a single step

Jennifer and I have been talking about climbing Kilimanjaro for a couple of years now, but we always seemed to be too busy to plan it and it looked like we were never going to get around to it, so last month we decided to bite the bullet and just book the trip, and then worry about sorting out our fitness and our kit.

We chosen to go with Exodus as they have a good name and offer a wide range of trips across the globe.  Another reason for chosing Exodus was the fact that they can sort out virtually the whole trip for us, so removing one of the biggest problems, that of actually organising the trip!

We booked it for October, which gives us a whole five months to get ourselves sorted.

We’ve decided to ask friends and family to sponsor our efforts by making a donation to our preferred charity, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.   I spent far too much of my childhood in that hospital, so I know what an excellent job they do for the children of the North West.

We are using the Just Giving site to make donations easy and secure, and also to get the additional benefit of gift aid for those of you who are UK taxpayers.  Just follow this link to make a donation http://www.justgiving.com/Jay-Jennifer-Kilimanjaro-Trek/
